Dr. Robert D. Nielson is a long time resident of Idaho, a place where he was born and raised.  He loves the Idaho Falls area and has chosen to raise his family in this area.

Education and Experience:

Dr. Nielson graduated from Skyline High School and then attended Ricks College(BYU-Idaho) for one year taking general education courses.  Soon after a year of college, Dr. Nielson served an LDS mission for his church in the southern states of Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana.  Following his mission, he once again returned to Ricks College where he pursued an Engineering degree.  He received an Associate Degree in General Math. In pursuit of his continued education, Dr. Nielson attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he gained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Following graduation from BYU, Dr. Nielson immediately started working as a Mechanical Engineer at Allied Signal Aerospace in Phoenix Arizona.  He worked in aerospace for approximately five years, and then chose to return his family back to Idaho where he worked as an engineer for Westinghouse and Lockheed Idaho for another six years.  Due to the corporate world and its ever changing environment, Dr. Nielson chose to change career paths in the pursuit to be a dentist.  He attended Dental School at Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine located in Ft. Lauderdale Florida.  He was very active in dental politics in dental school.  He was elected as the dental school President of the American Student Dental Association.  Dr. Nielson was active in achieving Western Board Licensure at his dental school as well as Licensure reform at other dental schools throughout the U.S.  He was active in the Florida Dental Association in determining requirements for dental students and new dentists.  Dr. Nielson is a member of the American Dental Association ADA and Idaho State Dental Association ISDA, and a member of the Doctors Organization for Conscious Sedation DOCS.  He loves being a dentist, and has chosen to practice General Dentistry here in Idaho for the quality people and the quality of life Idaho provides.


Dr. Nielson has a lovely wife for which they have been happily married for 24 years.  They have three children, two boys and a girl.  Outside the life of dentistry, the Nielson family enjoys sporting recreation such as camping, motorcycles, snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, hunting, boating, fishing, and about everything a family can do outdoors.
